Northern Chautauqua Community Choir was founded in 2016 as the Trinity Masterworks Choir. Working with Trinity Episcopal Church, Fredonia, we spent several years discovering what the musical needs of the community were. After the COVD Pandemic, we re-branded as the Fredonia Community Choir and began working under Play on Arts, a local 501(c)3 arts organization which allowed us the flexibility to grow into a new mission. We found our identity as the only masterworks choir serving the region between Buffalo, New York, and Erie, Pennsylvania. More importantly, we realized that the preparation of these large-scale works in a safe and supportive environment allowed community members who had not sung in many years a place to rediscover their voices. Beginning in 2026, Fredonia Community Choir becomes the Northern Chautauqua Community Choir. As we move into our second decade, we will continue to champion the works of living composers, build connections within the region, and provide support for singers at every level to develop and grow.

Phillip McMullen is an active performer, conductor, and educator throughout Western New York. The Northern Chautauqua Community Choir strives to create a haven for singers of every level of experience to explore their voices and refine their vocal technique through the performance of large scale works for choir and orchestra by living composers.
